Fat Bottomed Girls

Fat Bottomed Girls es un “hit single” de Queen. Fue lanzado en 1978 siendo parte del álbum “Jazz”. Esta canción fue escrita por el guitarrista de la banda, Brian May, y fue una de las canciones de Queen tocadas en una alternativa entonación de guitarra, comúnmente llamada "drop D tuning”. La letra expresa claramente “Que la belleza no es igual para todos según el punto de vista de quien observa”, si lo vemos como una opinión jocosa acerca del sexo. Esta canción es también considerada irónica debido a la ambigua condición sexual de quien ocupaba la voz principal de Queen, Freddie Mercury, sobre el escenario.

Los arreglos vocales son muy diferentes entre la versión estudio y la versión en vivo. En las presentaciones en vivo, la voz principal era interpretada, durante el coro, por nuestro querido Freddie, armonizada en los altos por Taylor y en los bajos por May. En la versión estudio, en tanto, no existe la harmonía “de altos”. En esta versión la primera voz está hecha por Mercury, manteniéndose May en los bajos, realizando también éste último, la voz principal en el coro.

En su versión “single” (la que se encuentra en Greatest Hits) omite la extensa interpretación de guitarra entre los versos, como también al inicio y al final.

“Fat Bottomed Girls” fue lanzado como un Double A-side(Doble lado) con la canción “Bicycle Race”. Este corte incluye la línea “Get on your bikes and ride” (Monten sus ‘bicis’ y conduzcan). “Bicycle Race” también contiene una línea similar, "Fat bottomed girls, they'll be riding today, so look out for those beauties, oh yeah" (Chicas gordas fondadas, ellas ‘la llevan’ hoy, entonces echa un vistazo a esas bellezas, o si), dejando a la vista las referencias de tema sobre el otro.

La portada del sencillo original aparece una mujer desnuda montada en una bicicleta. Por este simple hecho, muchas tiendas rechazaron los discos, haciendo que el sello reemplazara a la mujer desnuda por una vestida.

Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy es el cuarto sencillo y la tercera pista del disco A Day at the Races realizado en 1976.

Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy es el primer EP que lanzó la banda.

La canción comienza con una introducción en piano como casi todas las canciones del disco, dando inicio a la voz todo eso hecho por Freddie Mercury, luego se le da ingreso al bajo, para que luego entre la batería.

La canción habla de un "Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy"(mas o menos un buen amante a la antigua).

Killer Queen

Killer Queen es una de las canciones mas importantes de Queen,fue el sencillo que llevó a la banda realmente a la cima, alcanzando el #2 en los charts británicos a comienzos de 1975. El sencillo es extraído del álbum de 1974 Sheer Heart Attack.

Killer Queen presenta una perfecta cruza entre pop y music-hall. El cantante Freddie Mercury, quien escribió la canción, señaló que para escribirla tuvo influencia de The Beatles y de los Beach Boys.

We Will Rock You

We Will Rock You es un tema de rock compuesto por Brian May. Tiene un ritmo cuadrado y conciso con voces fuertes, acompañados con batería, palmas y un solo de guitarra.

Fue editado por primera vez en el 6º CD de la banda: News of the World (1977) y reeditado varias veces en las numerosas recopilaciones sacadas a la venta luego de la muerte del líder de la banda Freddie Mercury. Cabe destacar que el videoclip de la canción fue grabado en el patio trasero de la casa del baterista Roger Taylor.

Hasta hoy día, el tema sigue siendo parte de los cánticos tradicionales de aliento en los estadios de fútbol, baloncesto, y de varios equipos deportivos alrededor del mundo. La canción da nombre al musical producido por Ben Elton y supervisado por Brian May.

Jealousy es una canción escrita por Freddie Mercury y realizada como single extraído del álbum de 1978 Jazz realizado por la banda.

En la canción se percibe a Freddie tocando el Piano, mientras que Brian May toca una guitarra acústica. John Deacon cometió algunos errores mientras tocaba el bajo, pero la banda los dejó pasar para mantener el sentimiento de la toma (piano, bajo, guitarra y batería fueron grabadas simultáneamente). Toda la voz fue grabada por Mercury.

Too Much Love Will Kill You

Too Much Love Will Kill You es una canción escrita por Frank Musker, Elizabeth Lamers y Brian May, siendo este ultimo el guitarrista del cuarteto de Rock, QUEEN. Inicialmente el tema fue grabado por dicha agrupación dentro de las sesiones de su obra The Miracle en 1988, sin embargo por problemas de derechos de propiedad relacionados con Musker y Lamers, la canción no pudo ser incluida. El tema se rebelaría finalmente cuando May le interpreto dentro del concierto y tributo póstumo a Freddie Mercury. Brian May le daría lanzamiento oficial al incluirle en su obra de estudio Back to the Light editada en 1992. Lanzado como sencillo, "Too much love will kill you" alcanzó el puesto #5 en el Reino Unido.

En 1995, los tres miembros restantes de Queen reeditaron la grabación original de 1988 y la incluyeron como track 8 y 3er sencillo de su obra Made in Heaven, alcanzando el puesto #15 en las listas británicas.

En 1996 May ganó el Premio Ivor Novello por está canción, a lo que dijo; "Si hay una canción por la que hubiera querido ganar un premio, es Too Much Love Will Kill You." La canción fue escrita durante el divorcio que estaba viviendo Brian, en el momento en el que tenía que escoger entre dos mujeres que amaba igual.

The Millionaire Waltz fue escrita por Freddie Mercury en alusión al mánager de Queen y Elton John en ese momento John Reid. La canción fue realizada por la banda de Rock inglesa en 1976 como parte de su disco A Day At The Races.

Es una canción muy parecida a Bohemian Rhapsody en lo que se refiere al año y aspecto musical, en esta canción se puede ver a Brian May utilizando distintos tipos de acordes que cambian de acuerdo a como avanza la canción.

You Take My Breath Away es una canción realizada por la banda de Rock inglesa QUEEN escrita por Freddie Mercury en escala harmónica menor para su álbum A day at the Races lanzado en 1976. Toda la voz y el piano fue hecha por Freddie quien la intepreto por primera vez en Hyde Park antes de que sea grabada.
Una versión de la canción grabada en junio de 1977 en Earls Court aparece en el video Rare Live de 1989.

"Who Wants To Live Forever"

Who Wants to Live Forever (En español: Quién quiere vivir por siempre) es una canción escrita por Brian May y publicada por la banda de Rock inglesa Queen en 1986 como parte de su disco A Kind of Magic. Al igual que las demás canciones de este álbum, formó parte de la Banda sonora original de la película Los inmortales. En la versión del álbum, Brian May canta la primera estrofa de la canción, luego Freddie tomaba su lugar; pero la versión que se escucha en la película es única, ya que es Freddie quien hace la voz principal en la primera estrofa. Durante las presentaciones en vivo durante el Magic Tour la voz principal de toda la canción recaía en Freddie.
Una versión instrumental de la canción fue grabada y realizada en la versión en CD de A Kind of Magic, en esta versión solo se escucha un piano acompañado por un teclado durante el coro. El piano fue completamente interpretado por Brian May.

Death on Two Legs es la canción que abre el disco de 1975 A Night at the Opera realizado por la banda de Rock británica Queen.Death on Two Legs fue escrita por Freddie Mercury como un carta de despedida al ex-manager de Queen Norman Sheffiled quien había, según la banda, abusado de ellos con su rol de manager de 1972 a 1974. Según Taylor y May, Freddie estaba realmente disgustado por la forma como se repartían las ganancias de la banda, ya que después de 3 álbumes, el tercero de ellos, Sheer Heart Attack, con relativo éxito internacional, incluso en Japón (talk like a big business Tycoon), la banda no había visto aún traducido en ganancía económica todo su esfuerzo musical. Al Parecer las cuentas no cuadraban. "You've taken all my money...and you want more...".

Ya había habido un protesta subliminal en el tercer álbum Sheer Heart Attack con el tema Flick of The Wrist, con frases como Let me squeeze you till you've dried" o " all this time honey... baby you've been had, en las cuales ya Freddie deja entrever que se se sentía explotado.En el disco A Night At The Opera Freddie da un paso más y añade al título de la cánción el famoso "Dedicado a......?" para evitar demandas. No obstante Sheffield intenta infructuosamente demandarles por la mención de su nombre en los directos, lo que lleva a la banda a introducir el tema en vivo diciendo: This next song is from A Night a the Opera, this is about a motherfucker of a gentleman we call him Death on two legs.
En lo que respeta al la estructura musical, la canción comienza con una compleja introducción in crescendo de arpegios que alcanza niveles pandemoníacos para finalmente develar un riff que recrea una atmósfera siniestra, el cual fue compuesto por Mercury al piano (Grand-piano blanco) y luego trasladado a la guitarra por May y que constituye el eje musical sobre el cual se desarrolla toda la melodía.

"The Show Must Go On" será la frase que creo me acompañará por mucho tiempo desde hoy en adelante, la vida nos enseña que aunque nos caemos todos los días, grandes dificultades aparecen cuando menos lo esperamos, sin embargo todo camina como de costumbre, la tierra sigue girando (por el momento, al menos). Es por eso que rendirnos sería, simplemente, el peor negocio en el que invertir. He perdido la mejor y más bella parte de mi vida, por causa de caídas de las cuales me creí haber levantado completamente, cuando la verdad es que aún pesan muchos sentimientos, lo que me hace imposible seguir el mismo camino, solo al menos, será un tanto mejor.

Si este último periodo de mi vida en el que me acompañaste fuese una obra de teatro, no me cansaría jamás de aplaudir, quizás así los actores no abandonarían el escenario. Gracias por todo, pero como ya he dicho, la vida sigue su marcha y no es bueno quedarse atrás.
